Sat, 24 November 2007 Today I ask the big questions of Michael, age 33, and Objectivist with a soul. He is from the Greater Minneapolis area, and we met to record in a park on the most glorious of late fall days.We got into depression, alcoholism, and coming out of all that into a more hopeful view of life and the universe. Michael was a most open, honest, heartwarming person. I adored doing this interview. And as always, email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net. Comments[3] |
Sun, 21 October 2007 This show is the answers to the question posed last month - What is the Universe? 6 people tackled the question in this new experimental format. We heard from : - David C., from show #34 - Graviton Ring, show #48 - http://gravitonring.googlepages.com/ - Darren Blackshaw, a new listener - DragonLordALS, from NASA and show #51 - Anthony, show #31 - www.AShantyNoLemon.com - Cayenne, show #1 - www.tekdiff.com I loved the show, with philosophies from way out there, to the hard sciences. Thanks everyone for participating! Let me know if you like this format or the old style interview, or maybe would like a mix of both? Write to me or volunteer for an interview at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net Comments[1] |
Sat, 6 October 2007 Hey all! My new format isn't working. I asked for emal answers (or recorded sound - .mp3 files) as answers to the question I posed in the last show - "What is the Universe". Sadly I have only received 2 email answers so far, and the deadline was yesterday. I don't have enough material to do the next show. I'm changing the deadline to October 13th, in the hopes that I get more. Please participate! Thanks so much - Sue Category: general -- posted at: 2:51 PM Comments[1] |
Sun, 16 September 2007 This is a special show. Today I ask the big question:What is the Universe? to the listening audience. Please look at the Hubble Deep Space picture at: http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/archive/releases/2004/07/image/a/format/large_web/ Ponder this picture, think about the Universe and send me sound (mp3) files (64 kb is fine, 96, or 128 kb is good too) - or send an email with the thoughts and answers to this question. I'll read or play the files on the next show. I try to start tackling the question myself on this show, and hope to have better conclusions after I hear from all of you. Please send your mp3 recorded answers or your email answers to: sue.grandys@gmail.com I will need the answers by October 5th, so I can get the show up by the following week. Please, please, please join in the conversation! I need you! Comments[1] |
Sun, 19 August 2007 Today we get philosophy according to Corey, age 21.He is a Vegan, male prostitute from Minnesota. A monophobic who loves philosophy and people. (Oh yeah, and sex). It is a charming, irrepressible, and slightly nilistic combination. What fun it was to talk with him! I'm exploring the possibility of changing the show. I just passed my 2 year anniversary of the podcast, and am rapidly losing audience for the last 2 shows. I suspect you might be getting a little bored? One idea is to ask one "big question" each show, and ask for listeners to send in .mp3's or email with their answers. Of course that would depend on you all getting involved. What do you think? Tue, 24 July 2007 Today we ask the big questions of Drew, age 27. He is an Audio Equipment designer, and the D.J. for the old school Hip Hop bandMC/VL - a rapidly rising Minneapolis based band. For more about MC/VL check out their myspace page at www.myspace.com/mcvl To hear the amazing Drew (Professor BX), give a listen to "Cold Check It" on that page. One of my favorite show offs of Drew's D.J. work. And as always, email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net Volunteers are welcome! Comments[0] |
Tue, 26 June 2007 Today's show is with Linda, age 59. She is from Salt Lake City, retired from State employment, and having the time of her life. She sang for 20 years in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, traveled all over, taught the sight impaired, and has had quite the interesting life. I found her straightforward, yet such a kind person. Religious, yet open to anyone and full of mirth. I totally enjoyed talking with Linda! And as always, email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net Comments[0] |
Sun, 27 May 2007 He is a most enjoyable talker, and this show ends up being mostly about relationships and sex. Give it a listen! -------------------- The song at the end of the show is the long promised song (from previous guests Alex and Lyndon and their band 3 Blind Mice) from their new CD release Good Grief. The song is my person favorite off that CD - How Will I Know? Their CD's are available on itunes, or visit their web page at www.catsaway.com. ------------------- As always, email me at uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net Comments[0] |
Sun, 29 April 2007 Today's interview is with Scot McKay, age 40. He is the founder of X & Y Communications. He is a coach and trainer in pickup, seduction, dating and relationships. He has written several books on the subjects and has a podcast empire going too which includes The Chick Whisperer. He was engaging and delightful and we spent most of the interview talking about Christianity and sex and relationships. Quite the interesting combination! For more from Scot, go to his core website at http://www.deservewhatyouwant.com --------------------------------- The song I play at the end of the show is from previous guests Alex and Lyndon and their band 3 Blind Mice. It is from the CD - Before They Were Famous - vol 1 - and the song is one of my all time favorites The Bear Lies Down. Todays
interview is with DragonLordALS (his web handle). He is a 20-year-old Computer
Science major at Drexel University. The show turns out to be a fascinating view
of the world from a mathematician and fractal artist. The final song I play on the show is: from the CD Before They Were Famous, Volume 2. The song is Emily Has Compassion Fatigue- my favorite song at the moment. You can visit the 3 Blind Mice web page at: www.catsaway.com Most of their music is also available on itunes. ----------------------------- There should be a new Channel Surfing Wipeout up, this week, after a hiatus of 8 months or so at www.channelsurfingwipeout.com And as always, email me at uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net. See you when I get back from Japan! Comments[1] |
Sun, 18 February 2007 Join me in when Charlie takes on the "big questions". Charles is age 54, a psychologist, originally from Texas, now resides in Oregon. We wandered off in many directions from the questions, as I was interested to see how a psychologist would view the uncomfortable questions. We also had our super-geek moments! What we got was a lot of laughter and fun. Attatched is a ghoulish Halloween picture of Charlie! Can you imagine meeting your psychologist dressed like that? And please email me at uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net. If this is all too serious, tune into Cayenne Chris Conroy's absurd comedy show at www.tekdiff.com . It will make you a better person. Really! Comments[0] |
Sun, 28 January 2007 Today's delightful show is a Skype interview with DeAnne, age 41. She is a Musician, Social Worker, Transcriberix, and happens to be blind. She is a most lovely person to talk to, spiritual without being religious, funny, questioning of everything, and I totally adored her. My favorite parts are her view of Hope as "Spiritual Gravity", and her final words of advice kept me laughing for some time. I'm adding a photo of DeAnne that was just sent, a Halloween picture. Fun! As always, email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net. Comments[0] |
Sun, 7 January 2007 I'm back on my feet for the new year, with Graviton Ring (as he is known on the web), age 67, science fiction and story writer, and armchair cosmologist. This one is way out there, I scraped most of the questions and just tried to follow him where he was going, and he struggled with putting into words, concepts that just didn't fit well into words. What a great ride! Join us, and enjoy the show! To hear more from Graviton Ring - check out his own podcast at: http://feeds.feedburner.com/FreeThoughtMyRoughDraftOfReality As always, email me at: uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net. |
Sun, 3 December 2006 Today's interview is
with Dan, age 36. Dan barely qualifies as an ordinary person. He is a record producer and the president of StandUp! Records. We talk about his life as one of the only Jewish families in a small town in Nebraska, and as the son of recent Jewish imigrants from Poland and Palastinian Israel. I loved Dan, and hope you do too! Check out the records Dan produces for famous stand-up comedians like Lewis Black, at his web page www.standuprecords.com. And please email me at uncomfortable-questions@tcinternet.net. |
